Back in July 2011 I did a photoshoot for my good friend and his firm
startacticalarms.com/index.php… . It was one of my first commercial works and took place in an abandoned appartment block. We had to work our way through the maze of broken walls, blocked doors and collapsing staircases to get to a room, that had enough natural backlight (because the whole building was disconnected from the grid). When we finally found a good location, we had to deal with the 104F (40C) temperatures inside the room, while my friend wore full tactical attire ("getting fried in this goddamn apparel" - in his words).
The whole thing took aproximately 3 hours. We were tired and satisfied. You can see the outcome in my "Tactical Gear " gallery forlder here
vtal.deviantart.com/gallery/31… (photos named "Tactical Gear #).
Year and half forward. I'm browsing through my laptop and stumbling upon the raw pictures of the photoshoot. Although, in the past, I was satisfied with my post processing, today I know that I could done it better. Reaching this conclusion moved me forward to re-edit all of the pictures I uploaded to DA, taking more simplistic aproach. No major photoshop editing. Just refining the raw material. Many pictures were converted to b&w. I think the will look better that way. I'll post a colored versions of them at some point in the future, thus allowing you to judge which are better.
Another thing you may notice, is the removal of "Star Tactical Arms" logo from all the photographs and the link from their descriptions. No, I didn't get in a legal fight with my friend or some other dispute of that sort.
He still can use the older versions of the photographs and you can still visit his site that is mentioned above and check out his products. I've done because : (1) I don't have any formal obligations or limitations to use the original material as I like. (2) Everithing had changed since I first published the pictures - The logo design was changed and the style of my photos don't resemble with the current image of the company. (3) The initial publish with the site links and the logos, were my friendly gesture and a humble contribution to his growing bussiness. No partnerships or sponsor deals were made whatsoever. Due to that, I feel free to reupload better (in my opinion) versions of my early work without any sort of branding + upload photos that weren't seen ot DA.
TL;DR : I've re-edited some of the tactical gear photos. More stuff of that photoshoot comming soon!
